# Authentication

> Learn how to authenticate your API requests

The Reel25 API uses **API keys** to authenticate requests. All API requests must include your key in the `Authorization` header.

## Getting your API key

1. Go to [Settings → API Keys](https://app.reel25.com/settings/api-keys)
2. Click **Create API Key**
3. Give it a name and click **Create**
4. Copy the key immediately — it's shown only once

  API keys are secret credentials. Never share them in public repositories, client-side code, or browser requests. Treat them like passwords.

## Using your API key

Include the key in the `Authorization` header with the `Bearer` prefix:

## Key format

All Reel25 API keys start with the prefix `reel25_sk_` followed by a random string:

reel25_sk_a1b2c3d4e5f6g7h8i9j0...
```

## Key limits

| Limit | Value |
| - | - |
| Max active keys per workspace | 5 |
| Key format | `reel25_sk_` + 43 characters |

## Revoking keys

You can revoke a key at any time from the [dashboard](https://app.reel25.com/settings/api-keys) or via the API:

Revoked keys are immediately invalidated and cannot be restored. Create a new key if needed.
